What to Expect from an Origin and Destination Removal Service

All removals; whether domestic, European or intercontinental; can be divided into 3 phases: Origin, Transport and Destination services.

Origin

Origin services are further divided into two phases outlined from the inventory compilation.

Phase 1 is the packing or preparation phase:

During the packing phase, a computer-generated label is attached to each parcel or item (each label has a unique number). Depending on the circumstance (e.g. if the move has more than one destination), the labels will have different colours. For example, grey 1-X labels for one destination and green 1-Y labels for another. Since it is the packers who pack the parcels, they will mark two important pieces of information on each parcel: a general description of the contents of the box and the room from which the contents came. For example: Books/Living Room or Fragile/Kitchen or Bed Parts/Master [bedroom], and so on.

Once packing is complete, packers will start to compile the inventory by writing the description of each package/box and associating it with a number. For example: 1 will be Books/Living Room, 2 will be Fragile/Kitchen, 3 will be Bed Parts/Master, etc.

Step 2 is the loading phase:

Once the inventory has been compiled, the items will be loaded into a vehicle or container. A copy of the inventory will be left with the customer. The copy assumes the role of a receipt of what has been removed from the point of origin/household. Items may vary from 3 to 300, or even more.

Destination

Destination services are essentially the opposite of origin services. One of the first items to be unpacked is the chair. This is because the customer will be asked to sit near the entrance as the unloading phase begins, later followed by the ‘unpacking phase.’ As the packers enter the house with the boxes, they will call out the number of the package they are carrying. The customer will do the inventory search, finding the package number called and the description recorded during the ‘packing phase.’ The customer can then tell the packers where the parcel is to be left.

For example, the packer calls parcel 25 and the customer will search the inventory for item 25, finding that it matches the description Books/Living Room, and then indicating in which room it should be placed. The shipment will therefore be meticulously distributed throughout the house/domestic/destination, leaving nothing out. Once this phase is complete, with all boxes marked (in this case by the customer searching the inventory to avoid leaving anything out), the unpacking phase can begin.

If the delivery service takes place over several days, unpacking will always take place on the first day. The first items to be unpacked and then immediately assembled will be the beds, so that the customer can live in the flat right away. He will certainly have a house full of parcels, but at least he will be able to sleep in it. As in the service of origin, the last items to be unpacked will be the beds, sofas, TV, and a few plates and glasses. In this way, the customer will always be able to live in his own home until the end of the service of origin.
